Dear Trash Talkers

Dear Screamers, Shouters, Mockers, Nags, Shrews, Bossy-Pants, Know-it-alls and Others Who Were Raised by Wolves.

Wait! That is an insult to wolves. I'll think of another metaphor.
So, I was reading some insulting comments about my favorite candidates -- and, about me (!) -- and, said to myself, "I think that is true! I really am an idiot! I'll do better next time."
Not!
I am personally promoting a vigorous exchange of ideas with no aggressive or rude communication among my social media friends -- especially toward me! Assertiveness is welcome here. Aggression and passive-aggressive behavior are not welcome

So, you are welcome to share info, facts, articles, etc.
You are not welcome to SHOUT AT ME!
Or, to insult my candidates or my friends or me.
Or, to assume that I or my friends are ignorant or unintelligent.
Don't call anyone names: neo-liberals, corporate Dems, etc
My mother said to tell you, don't use expressions like "Drank the Kool-aide." Don't call people a "POS!" Jeeze! the image that brings up. Drop the use of word like "Repuglithan." It makes you look... oh, dear, I don't want to hurt your feelings... trashy.

Communication on social media is challenging:
Misunderstandings are inevitable.

"That's not what I said!"
We don't have inflection or expression to help.
"But... but... my eyes were twinkling!"

We may not have a history with people we are chatting with.
"What? You didn't know that I am a life-long progressive!"
Assumptions are made.
"You just assumed that I'm an idiot, you IDIOT!"

Conclusions are leapt to!
"No, I am not supporting everyone that I make a kind comment about."

We may not agree about what is polite vs rude!
"I am sorry that no one taught you polite behavior! I can do it! Just ask me!"

Mistakes are made.
"I meant to type, 'the kind of folk who...' NOT 'the kind of fu....'"

We all want a vigorous exchange of ideas.
We all want to learn and grow.
Many Republicans & most Democrats want to preserve democracy.
And, we want to elect a fantastic candidates.
We have great choices.
